Idiotware Shield - simplifying IoT for Arduino

Designed and developped in Curiosity Gym

Electronics

The Idiotware Shield is the Swiss Army Knife of Arduino shields, with plenty of integrated inputs and outputs and options for connectivity and expansion, without getting into the nitty-gritties of electronics & wiring. Eliminate messy wiring, breadboards and veroboards. Build your own Arduino based IoT projects, in hours rather than days!

What’s the project story?

Created in mid-December 2016 by the R&D team of Curiosity Gym, Idiotware Shield is a simplified and multi-featured Arduino board. Thanks to this learning platform, hundreds of Arduino projects can be brought to life. Curiosity Gym primarily created the board to animate its students workshops. Thanks to the board, students can quickly get to the core of their ideas, without “being distracted by wiring, multiple shields or piles of datasheets”. Then the team decided to launch in February 2017 a dedicated crowdfunding campaign in order to scale its production and commercialize it online.

To do so, Curiosity Gym documented in opensource 31 projects that can be developed thanks to the idIOTware Shield.

How do they interact with the workshop?

Research & development, ideation, design, prototyping, testing…idIOTware Shield went through all the design thinking phases in the lab thanks to the space, the machines, the high-skilled team and the workshops. Indeed, the team tested the Idiotware Shield with more than 300 students during the workshops organized in the Middle School Innovation Hub.

What’s next?

Today, more than 9400$ have been raised thanks to the crowdfunding campaign. The next step for Curiosity Gym is to deliver pre-orders and then to find new suppliers and manufacturers to make it cheaper. You already can buy the Idiotware Shield on Curiosity Gym website!
