A crowd-sourced, student-driven, cross-campus Hyperloop think tank aiming to bring the Hyperloop to India!

What’s the project story?

The Hyperloop is a project launched by the famous entrepreneur Elon Musk and its startup SpaceX, building “the terrestrial transportation mode of the future”. Hyperloop is intended to be a new way to move people or freight quickly, safely and on-demand. Most of the air is removed from inside a long tube and a levitated vehicle is accelerated through it using a linear electric motor.

In 2016/2017, SpaceX has been organizing the Hyperloop pod competition, asking 27 teams around the world to prototype at small scale a hyperloop vehicle.

The hyperloop India Team is the only one from India selected and its 20 members will participate to the adventure.

How do they interact with the workshop?

The team, intially from BITS Pilani University, has decided to come to Bangalore to benefit from its industrial and IT ecosystem, allowing them to build and test their prototype at a faster pace. They are hosted by the Workbench projects fablab and supported by its network of experts, suppliers, manufacturers…

What’s next?

The team is currently building its first prototype, and will present its vehicle to the Hyperloop track in the US build by SpaceX the 25-26 of August 2017.
