What is it?

Square off has been presented the smartest chess board ever shown. It started has a student project in 2013, inside RiiDL lab. It allows you to play on your board against anyone in the world who downloaded the app. Connect via the app, the board pieces moves alone along its surface like magic. 779 people have successfully backed this project on kickstarters and Indiegogo.

How do they interact with the workshop?

They used the space and access to machines and sensors. The first prototypes were fully made in the makerspace, supported by the team of the lab. We went for DFM after the campaign. The lab helps us to get contacts for funding and DFM.

What’s next?

The team is now working on its mass production, and should deliver its first board by end 2017.
