FabLab Vagur is a modern prototype workspace where you meet the latest digital production technologies. The lab is under the school administration, with one manager. The laboratory is located in a primary/secondary school basement placed in the town center, covering a large area divided into four rooms, separated into areas and spaces, and with its own main entrance from the villages main road. From here, the lab has access to all the facilities of the school, integrated as an equipped makerspace e.g. vinyl cutters, micro bits, laser cutter etc and working with children, teachers, local businesses and local enthusiasts on a daily basis. The next purchases for the lab is a large paper plotter and an embroidery machine.

🇫🇴 MAKER RESIDENCY 2022 - FABLAB VAGUR (Feroe Island) ⬇ Fablab Enthusiast – In Residence in the Arctic ⬇ In Residence in the Arctic is an opportunity to live and work in the town of Vágur on the most southern part of the Faroe Islands, for a period of 5 weeks.
Fablab Vágur opened its doors for the public in 2020, and is located on a primary school placed in the center of the town.
👩🏻🔧 TYPE OF ACTIVITIES: assistance to fab manager, and introducing fablab technoligies to teachers and pedagogues
⏳ PERIOD : 5 weeks (spring 2022)
🗓️ DATES : from 20 April to 25 May 2022 (flexible)
🚂 TRANSPORT : support 700 EUR
🏡 ACCOMMODATION : Included (free)

We are searching for a Maker who loves working with children on a daily basis, and possess good skills using Fablab technologies, e.g. vinyl cutters, micro bits, laser cutter etc. Your assistance during Open Fablab hours and daily maintenance of the lab is also required. In addition, we are looking for an enthusiastic person, who would like the challenge of impacting and motivating our school staff, consisting of teachers and pedagogues, with your competencies, for them to be able to use the technologies as a natural part of their daily work. The person is also given the opportunity to schedule and hold their own workshops in the lab.
What you can expect from us: We will be your host during your stay in Vágur and help introduce you to the local community. We will provide you with free accommodation during your stay and assist with travel expenses, and also a commission for your work.

In five years, we got different ways of financing our Fablab : - Private donations in 2017 - Municipality in 2020 - Finance act in 2022
We are still looking for our stable economic model and always look for new partners to support us.
