Developing sustainable technology to improve maternal and child healthcare!

Social networks

What’s the project story?

While working, Arun visited more than 50 healthcare centers in India during his week-ends to identify the major problems in mother and child healthcare, as in development countries, infant mortality is very high.

He realized private hospitals were equipped of Cardiotocography, a device to record the fetal heartbeat and prevent problems for the pregnancy. In other hospitals, they do it manually as this device is very expensive (3,000$), takes a lot of space and isn’t user-friendly: the graphical format requires a lot of skills to interpret it.

After validating these needs with many stakeholders, Arun and his team defined a portable, cheap and easy to use contraction device.

How do they interact with the workshop?

In September 2016, Arun’s team arrived in IKP Eden to develop their first POC (Proof of Concept) mainly thanks to the space’s electronics lab and mentorship.

What’s next?

Today, Janitry has 7 people in the team working on their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) which should be ready within 6 months thanks to ongoing collaborations with hospitals. After that, they plan to start clinical trials and then launch commercialization next year.

In parallel, they are also developing an app to help low-skilled medical staff to make decisions during labor.
