The association La FUN was created in 2013 by a handful of citizens to bring out a fablab in Tours: the Funlab. Temporarily hosted at the Sanitas nursery and then housed with the Compagnons du Devoir, the Funlab landed in Mame in 2016.

At the crossroads of the sectors of education and digital inclusion (Fablab Solidaire label), culture and design, economy and local development, Funlab offers you numerous events, activities, collective projects.

Everyone can come to the FUNLAB!

We welcome you every Thursday between 6 pm and 7 pm for your “very first time”: visit, information, demonstration of machines. You want to come back for training, to hack together, to develop a personal or professional project, to contribute to the life of the association and its activities, then you are ready to join.

Our fablab director is Catherine - LENOBLE

SERBIAN MAKER IN FUNLAB FRANCE

maker en residence

It was a great experience in Tours and our makers community to host for more than a month Todor, a maker from Serbia (Garage Lab in Belgrad).

Funlab is delighted to have done such a residency maker in Tours. Inspired by Erasmus, the idea is simple: promote the mobility of makers to spend time immersed in a fablab in another European country. We thus welcomed Todor Cvetanovic from June 18 to July 31 at Funlab in Tours, a period which coincided with the world meeting of fablabs in France FAB14, the opportunity for this young maker of GarageLab in Belgrade in Serbia, to meet on front of the stage, to develop its network and its experience.

This residency makers where allowed thanks to the grants support of the Indre-Et-Loire department where is located the city of Tours and also the help of Vulca to find the right maker.

Todor’s testimony, resident maker:

First of all, I’d like to thank the Vulca: European Program and the FunLab for providing me this opportunity at the first place. I can say that I had some fun, it was the FunLab’s experience after all.

During my stay at the city of Tours I got a chance to do some thing that significantly impacted my life. I’ve learned how to be part of a wider community / team and work with all of them in English. Also, I got a chance to participate in the Final European Students Parliament, the EuroScience Open Forum and Fab14 +. I’ve used this opportunity to link with different people and learn from the world’s experts. Also, I’ve represented the Serbian team on all of these events.

When it comes to my staying at the FunLab, I can say that it was quite successful as well. I didn’t complete my mission from the beginning, but I tried to be involved in the community as much as possible. We had some great time together, but I think that our workshops (3D Printing and Arduino Workshops for a group of migrants and Funlab users) were the best part of my experience. Maybe I wasn’t the best maker, but the FunLab and Vulca’s community was definitely much better! When I returned to the Garage Lab, I got a chance to become an official Lab’s associate, and I think that this experience will help me in my future! “
