  • What’s the project story?

Since I was little, because of dyslexia and because I did not like my writing, I quickly used the computer as a working tool. At first, if digital allowed me to support my writing, my use has gradually extended to design clothes during my studies and now in my work. More than computer-aided design, digital manufacturing is at the heart of my work and allows me to give life to my ideas, even the craziest ones.

  • How the workshop was useful?

Protein lab is a key professional partner that I discovered thanks to the school director who offered to work with them free of charge to investigate the creation of new textiles through digital fabrication. With my experience in this field, it was an opportunity to find professionals with whom to exchange and progress in this niche. Together with Diego Vilches, the team’s textile designer, we worked on new fabrics and creative processes for my collection.

  • What’s the project’s greatest success so far?

The greatest successes in the production of collector’s items made with digital manufacturing were a coat, acclaimed by professionals and the public after a parade in New York and a dress worn by the presenter Carolina de Moras during the Festival de Viña del Mar. The digital manufacturing allowed me to create these new materials and to make possible, in a short time, the realization of pieces as unique and complex.

  • What’s your greatest failure(s)& lesson(s) so far?

Digital manufacturing is a story of failures and learning. We spend a lot of time in research but it pays. Once the know-how acquired, the production of clothing is fast, even including customization, and allows to go further with the experience gained.

  • What’s your vision for the project & next steps?

New materials, new models … I wish to value the expertise and know-how of these new artisans who use digital manufacturing and to draw the attention of professionals and the general public to the combination of art and technology, technicity of the mode, not only on the fame and appearances.

  • How anyone interested can contribute to the project?

Anyone interested in collaborating does not hesitate to contact me. We are still too few in this field and there is still plenty to discover and create!
