Wytwórnia was created from the need and combination of two ideas. Kajetan had been talking for months about the hacklab premise, and Maciek had just returned from Erasmus and lacked a common place where a group of friends could meet and just do SOMETHING. Since there were plenty of creative people in the group – architects, designers, manufacturers – the idea quickly took shape, as a space for creative work – a studio, a workshop and a prototype plant.
Initially, it was supposed to be a small place for friends, but it turned out that the need for such a place in Kraków goes far beyond these dozen people. Since the first “pub talks” in December 2012, that “it would be nice if …”, it took a dozen weeks until they found the premises and on March, 2013 announced the creation of Wytwórnia.
A month later, the first plaster-cardboard walls were fell in the premises at Ślusarska 9 and after less than 3 weeks of intensive renovation, carried out fully by our own forces and with the great support of friends and supporters of Wytwórnia, on May 11, 2013, the official opening took place.
Today’s Wytwórnia is a contemporary, open creative workshop (makerspace) for DIY, hobbyists, budding entrepreneurs, artists and craftsmen. Here you can find people, space and equipment that help develop your ideas into profitable businesses.
